Handmade Furniture and Woodcrafts by

Josh Blubaugh

Joshua spent time working with an Amish Furniture maker. He truly enjoys not only working with woods, but just the natural beauty in woods. When he picks out lumber for his projects, he looks for grains, figures and other unique characteristics in the wood. He has made many items both as gifts and for sale. Below are a few pictures of items he has made. Since Joshua is now working as a general carpenter, his time for projects is very limited.

This is a 3 tiered shelf with a drawer. He made this for a friend.

This is a cradle that made for someone.

This is a wooden trivet for the table that he made for me.

This is a trivet/cutting board he made for friends out of 100 year old barn wood that he planed down.

He also made himself a toolbox.

This next item is a lucet. It is a hand held, lyre shaped instrument that has been used since the 17th century. It is used to make a square cording out of string, thread, yarn, etc. Because the cord is square it will not come untied, which makes it ideal for shoelaces. It is small enough that you can carry it anywhere with you in your pocket or purse. It is easy enough to do while you stand in line and wait. He makes these out of hardwoods, many of which are exotic. He has used Purple Heartwood, Red Heartwood, Bloodwood, Zebra Wood, Black Walnut and even Koa Wood from Hawaii. He has started making some of them out of three different woods all layered together as pictured below. They are very easy to use and come with complete instructions.

Here is a tater and onion bin that he made for me. The top part is a bread box with a glass front.

He has now embarked on a new adventure. Blubaugh Construction Company. He is doing very well. After we closed the store, we decided to turn the back of what had been the store into a master bedroom complete with a tub. Joshua did the work for us. Here is a picture of the tub.

Here is some more pictures of some of his jobs, including an updated picture of him. The first shots are of a basement he finished for someone.

We hope that you enjoyed seeing Joshua's work. Please email us with any questions or comments you may have.
